Hi, I’m Tree, and let me be radically candid:
I want you to hire me.
Working as a part of The Second City team has been a dream of mine since I was 16, when a Second Citizen came to my high school drama class and blew my socks off.
From that point on, I was obsessed with improv. I thought it was the purest example of collaborative teamwork on the planet. I still think this.
I wanted to help organizations achieve that level of collaboration and performance, which is why I pursued Organizational Psychology.
But still, I always thought my passions were dichotomous: I could go the improv route or the business route, but I couldn’t have both.
Until I learned about The Second City Works.
Now, my dreams are aligned and my goal is clear.
I want to be the next Director of Business Development at The Second City Works.
But fangirling over The Second City isn’t enough, you need to know that I am the right person for the role.
So let me prove it.

I am currently the Director of Growth for a business education company in the training and development space. That means I am responsible not only for each component of the sales cycle, but also for our growth and marketing strategies as a whole.
This includes…
List-building and conversion strategies for industry events
Ad traffic and funnels
Content marketing, organic traffic, and SEO
Campaign strategy and project management
Customer journey and offer flow
Community engagement and brand alignment…
If you’re thinking “That’s a whole bunch of stuff!” then you’re right. It is.
The reason I can navigate it is because I spent the last four years of my career working through every component of the organization, learning how the pieces fit together.

So now I am able to zoom out to the 30,000 foot view to develop visionary strategies…
… as well as zoom back in to the operational level to support clients on the ground.
I built my reputation by diving into opportunities outside my comfort zone, then consistently over-delivering. My manager summed me up by saying I’m “Growth mindset, personified.”
That’s how I became the youngest Director ever in our organization, working side-by-side with our CEO at just 25 years old. Since I have been in the role, we have exceeded every sales target we have set on our campaigns, most recently to the tune of 7 times our projected sales.

In sales I behave in the exact same way I would in a scene: I focus on the person in front of me and the relationship we are developing together.
When I started in sales, I used my improv principles as my North Star. Within 6 months I was our top salesperson, with a close rate of 34% on our flagship offer and personal responsibility for 14% of our revenue over the past 3 quarters.

Soon after I was also put in charge of training our sales team, many of whom came from decades-long corporate sales experience. I even expanded into independent consulting on the side, because clients would come to me begging me to train their sales teams.
So what does this mean for you at The Second City Works?
It means that you are getting a Director with a proven trajectory for success.
You are getting someone who is passionate about improv AND improving organizations, with equal vigor.
And you are getting someone who has been completely in love with your company and your mission since she was 16 years old (and still had bangs).
Let me apply my love of improv, sales skills, and strategic abilities to inspire better performance with you at The Second City Works.
